The heat of the moment

I slowly pulled the stick out of the fire and realized that it was burning, I quickly pulled it over to my hands where I sheltered it from the environment. Slowly but surely the wind blew it out prompting me to prod the fire again where I then let the stick sit for longer until it had a candle sized flame. I took it out and blew through the stick to  give it oxygen, the fire shot forward and out. I then did this again and again until I could coax the flame to a finger size and then blow it away. I did it one last time however this time I accidentally breathed in causing to things to happen, a burning sensation in my mouth and a burning sensation in my lungs, I realized that kindling had come down with the flame and burnt in my mouth and my lungs well I just coughed for a while afterwards.

the 7 songs of merlin T.A Barron

In the 7 Songs of Merlin a plight has struck the land and a boy and girl must fight to save it. Meanwhile a poet is trying to survive in this plague ridden land trying to survive. The plague kills almost everything that it touches. This is a really good book however has a fairly confusing plot that can distract from itself. In the end I liked this book a lot and it seemed like a good book about good people. I however would change one thing and take the poet to of the book because his side story seemed pointless and acted as a distraction from the plague. Overall this was a good book.

This week I read all of the light we cannot see and I thought that it was a very good book I really enjoyed it and it is starting to take off and get really interesting. After the first hundred or so pages I got more interested and so on until I've gotten really interested. I really like the book and it is really good. I like the book alot and it acurately depicts the savage war and brain washing. "I musn't hesitate. I climbed the pole and saw the flag and how it looked tiny. I jumped and landed right in the center 'heil Hitler'" "I thought of the boy who fell and how no one moved to help him".

Howling

I heard the voices coming and going. They passed me shrieking yelling at each other until they had left. Gone completely. I watched as their shady figures disappeared into the fog only to be replaced by the capuchin's. Until they too disapeared and the only sound left was the chirping birds. I got out of bed and went to go eat breakfast. We ate and went out to the river, this time the river was too big to jump across. Ten meters across twenty and then thirty meters the other side of the river disapeared into the mist and left us. We listened to the croaking of the frogs and the hissing of the snakes it sounded like life.

All The Light We Cannot See

In the book All The Light We Cannot See, Werner grows up in Nazi Germany and is learning about all of the spoils he is not in possession of. He learns about electricity and is facinated by the subject. He also learns that his path is not a good one and is ridden with coal mines and poverty. Meanwhile Marie is growing up in a walled city blind at age five she must learn to cope with this when her father makes her a perfect scale model of the city. She slowly learns the paths streets and other things. On one tuesday she finds her way home from a park and slowly learns independence. So far this is a really good book that I have enjoyed. It describes life really well both in poverty and with disability. I would rate this book as being pretty good.

Elsewhere

At 15 Liz dies. That's it her life is gone, and she finds herself in a strange new place surrounded by drug addicts and murder victims. All of them are dead. She ends up with her grandma who is 30. She needs to find closure and other things to let go of her past. I really enjoyed this book and it's perception of the afterlife. I feel like this book is mostly about a girl coping with the fact that she is dead. It did get a little cheesy with her finding true love and stuff but this book has some really touching parts.

skimboarding

I threw the board down while the water was still shallow and ran to catch up with it. I then proceeded to jump on it and ride for ten feet before I misplaced my weight. I felt myself sliding to a halt where I fell off. Then I landed on it, I felt its spiny surface digging into my foot. I shortly realized what had happened and swam back to shore. I pulled it out carefully feeling the pain shoot up my leg. I then watched as the sea urchin crawled back into the water. Then I saw it. It was huge. I saw the pale underbelly and the stinger waving behind it. I threw a rock towards it and watched it thrash around. It was a stingray and it was very real.

the universe v. alex woods

When Alex gets pulled over at the customs border control he has a lot to explain to the officer. He starts when he gets hit in the head with a meteorite and continues to talk about his epilepsy and how he made friends to help him deal with his condition. I have not yet finished this book but it is a great story about how alex learned to cope with his new condition. The book is sort of ironic however it also has moving parts that are similar to reality. I enjoy this book a lot because it is very similar to real life and many people can relate to this. Overall this is a great book that I would recomend for everyone.
